Who we are
Telepath is a personal macOS mail application. Contact: hello@samesay.app.
No server, no account
Telepath has no backend. It runs entirely on the user's Mac. We do not operate any server that receives, stores or analyses your email, and we do not create an account for you.
Data Telepath accesses
- Google user data. With your permission, Telepath uses the Gmail API to read, organise, draft and send email, and to read and change your vacation responder settings. It uses your basic profile (name and email address) to label the account.
- Microsoft and iCloud mail, in the same way, through Microsoft Graph or the account already set up on your Mac.
How the data is used
- Messages, attachments and settings are stored only on your Mac, in Telepath's own folder, to show your mailbox and work offline.
- When AI features are on, the text of an email and its conversation may be sent to Anthropic's Claude, through the Claude Code app that you install and sign in to yourself, to decide whether a reply is needed, choose a category and write a draft. This happens under your own Anthropic account and Anthropic's terms. You can switch AI off, or exclude categories, at any time.
- Drafts are saved to your own mailbox (for example your Gmail Drafts) so you can find them on your other devices. Telepath never sends an email without a clear action from you.
Limited Use
Telepath's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the user-facing features described above. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to train general AI models, and not read by humans except with your explicit consent for support or where required by law.
Sharing
We do not share your data with anyone. The only parties involved are your mail provider (Google, Microsoft, Apple) and, if you enable AI features, Anthropic through your own Claude Code installation.
Security and retention
Sign-in tokens are kept in the macOS Keychain. Local data stays until you remove the account in Telepath or delete the app's folder. You can revoke Telepath's access at any time from your Google account (Security, Third-party access), your Microsoft account or your Apple settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
